ADMISSION PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS
DURATION OF PROGRAMS:
- Bachelor’s degree programs: 4 years 10 months (8 semesters)
- Master’s degree program in Medicine: 5 years 10 months (12 semesters)
- Master’s degree programs: 1 year 4 months (3 semesters)
- PhD program: 4 years
TERMS OF ENROLMENT – TWICE A YEAR:
Autumn Intake:

PARTIES INVOLVED:
- Sumy State University (Ukraine): Provision of all educational and study services for students to obtain Bachelor, Master’s, and PhD degrees.
- Linctech ICT Academy Limited (Nigeria): Provision of enrollment processing, selection, and check of students’ enrollment documents, online interview/exams arrangements with SumDU faculty, provision of classrooms for SumDU lecturers during tutorial sessions in Nigeria, communication with students on behalf of SumDU, legalization, and delivery of documents to SumDU, school fees payment support, and transfer of funds to SumDU.
COSTS INVOLVED:
- School fees (to be discussed)
- Admission fee: To be paid to LICTA
- Processing fee: For document legalization and DHL (to be paid to LICTA)
- Recognition fee: For WAEC/NECO/Bachelor’s/Master’s documents recognition (depending on the degree students enroll) by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (to be paid by students to LICTA with further transfer to SumDU to process payments for translations, notary, and Ministry services)
- Graduation certificates fee: To be paid to SumDU upon graduation for document processing and their legalization/apostille with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and Embassy of Nigeria in Ukraine
Admission Guidance of International Students to Sumy State University (SumDU) for Full-time/Online or Distance Mode of Studying
STEP ONE: REGISTRATION FOR THE DEGREE PROGRAM
To register for enrollment in SumDU online degree programs, students submit the following documents to LICTA:
Bachelor students:
- International passport (first page)
- WAEC/NECO/other certificate (to be further legalized)
- Secondary school document (copy)
- Application with a statement of the degree program (see attached file)
- Consent to personal data collecting and processing (see the attached file)
Master’s students:
- International passport (first page)
- Bachelor degree certificate (BSc certificate) – to be further legalized
- Bachelor degree transcript (BSc transcript) – to be further legalized
- Secondary school document/WAEC/NECO (copy)
- Application with a statement of the degree program (see attached file)
- Consent to personal data collecting and processing (see the attached file)
PhD students:
- International passport (first page)
- Master’s degree certificate (BSc certificate) – to be further legalized
- Master’s degree transcript (BSc transcript) – to be further legalized
- Bachelor certificate and transcript (copy)
- Application with a statement of the degree program (see attached file)
- Consent to personal data collecting and processing (see the attached file)
- Research proposal
LICTA sends scanned copies of applicants’ documents to the SumDU international admission committee for pre-screening.
STEP 2: ONLINE ADMISSION INTERVIEW AND TESTS
After getting admission letters from SumDU for students, LICTA & SumDU agree on the date and time for holding online entrance exams in English language and specialty subject. For this purpose, LICTA arranges:
- Presence of students appointed for online exams at LICTA office/computer class
- Students should have international passports/IDs for authentication of personality
- Necessary Internet connection on their computer devices should be provided to avoid any failure of the examination process
- The process of online tests will be recorded.
STEP 3: PREPARATION OF STUDENTS’ DOCUMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO SUMDU
After SumDU announces the results of a successful pass of the admission tests, LICTA works on the legalization of students WAEC/NECO or Bachelor’s documents or Master’s documents (depending on the degree students are admitted) with the Ministry of Education of Nigeria and Embassy of Ukraine in Nigeria.
After legalized documents are ready, LICTA sends the following set of documents of students for submission to the Admission Board of SumDU:
- WAEC/NECO or BSc certificate and transcript or MSc certificate and transcript (depending on the degree program students are enrolled): originals & their legalized copies
- Application (according to Appendix 1 of this letter).
- Consent to personal data collecting and processing (according to Appendix 2 of this letter).
- Questionnaire (according to Appendix 3 of this letter).
- 4 photos size 30x40mm.
STEP 4: DELIVERING OF STUDENTS DOCUMENTS TO SUMDU
When all the above-mentioned documents of students are ready, LICTA sends them to SumDU’s Department of International Education by DHL or other post service.
STEP 5: FINAL ENROLLMENT AND SCHOOL FEES PAYMENT
- Upon receiving students’ documents, they will be submitted for translation into the Ukrainian language and notary verification (WAEC/NECO or BSc certificate and transcript or MSc certificate and transcript, passport copy). (*Costs for the translation of documents should be covered by students).
- SumDU issues the order of students’ enrollment and registers them in the database of the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science as students of SumDU.
- SumDU sends to LICTA invoices for students’ school fees payment to SumDU account.
- Students’ BSc certificates & transcripts should be submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for recognition during the first semester of their studies. (*This is compulsory processing according to Ukrainian legislation for all international students obtaining degrees from Ukrainian universities under additional costs covered by students).
STEP 6: BEGINNING OF STUDIES / STUDY PROCESS
After the successful enrollment of students & school fees payment, SumDU provides LICTA with login, passwords, and keys for each student to have access to their personal accounts in a distance mode system to start their studies. Students will earn points during their studies through online and distance means of studies and simulators due to the fulfillment of different tasks and tests. Study guidance & handbooks/study plans will be provided additionally. (*More details of study process modalities to be discussed with students) (*Pre-degree internships (1 month usually) before thesis defense for Bachelor and Master students to be arranged in Nigeria (to be discussed)
STEP 7: STATE EXAMINATION AND GRADUATION
7.1. Final examination session / degree thesis defense for Bachelor and Master students can be conducted in 2 ways:
- 100% online
- Within the campus/office of LICTA by faculty members of SumDU, who will arrive in Nigeria for final attestation of students (examination board, maximum 3 people).
7.2. PhD students have their PhD thesis defense online with the Board.
After successfully passing the final attestation/degree thesis defense by students:
- SumDU issues degree certificates for Bachelor and Master students and submits a necessary package to the Ministry of Education for PhD students’ degree certificates processing by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
- SumDU together with LICTA organizes the procedure of legalization of graduates’ degree certificates in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and in the Embassy of Nigeria in the relevant country.
- SumDU together with LICTA arranges the delivery of degree certificates to Nigeria (*Costs for legalization of documents should be covered by students).
